Janmashtami also know by Krishna Janmashtami and Dahi Handi festival. The day of Krishna Janmashtami is the birthday of lord Krishna. It is a great Hindu festival. Every year this day celebrate in India with joy and happiness. Janmashtami comes every year in August or September month. The birth of Krishna is eighth Avatar of lord Vishnu. Lord Krishna birth in the midnight of hour. The meaning of Janmashtami is Janma (birth) and Ashtami (eighth). Krishna birth was day of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada. Lord Krishna was very mischievous and naughty. Lord Krishna was many best friends. Lord Krishna loved milk and butter and sand. Lord Krishna mother was Devaki and Yashoda, and father was Nand baba and Vasudev. Janmashtami is a public holiday in india. Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated eight day after Raksha Bandhan. Lord Krishna is known by another names like Nandlal, Mohan, Manuhar, Shayam, Ghanshayam, Murlidhar etc.

Janmashtami is one of the most popular Hindus festivals. It is also known as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami. On this day Lord Krishna was born.

Lord Krishna is said to be the 8th avatar of Vishnu. On this day people have their fast and at 12’o o’clock at night people break their fast.

Various temples of Lord Krishna are being decorated on this day. Various songs based on Lord Krishna use to be played in various temples in midnight.

Krishna Janmashtami is followed by the festival Nandostav, which celebrates the occasion when Nanda Baba distributed gifts to the community in honour of the birth.

Janmashtami is the festival which is celebrated by Hindu families because of the birth of eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu called” Krishna”.

This festival is celebrated on the eighth day of Krishna Paksha in Shraavan or Bhadrapada which comes in August or September.

This festival is mainly celebrated in “Mathura” and “Vrindawan” because it is the birth place of Lord Krishna. Hindu celebrates this festival by fasting, singing, playing drama and praying together.

According to the mythology Lord Krishna was born at midnight so in people worship Lord at midnight and do religious practices.

Lord Krishna is the eighth avatar of lord Vishnu. Lord Krishna is born in Mathura. Lord Krishna’s parents were “Devaki” and “Vasudeva” but because of his Maternal uncle “Kans” his father gave his child to “Yashoda” and “Nandbaba” Lord Krishna is known as the lord of love, compassion and tenderness.

Lord Krishna’s birthday is celebrated by Hindus in the form of festival called Krishna Janmastmi. Lord Krishna is used to be very naughty in his childhood days and according to mythological stories lord Krishna has done Raslila’s with gopis.

Krishna has also fights with many devils to save the people of his village and there are many stories which we can find in mythological books related to lord Krishna.
